Two Years down many more to go!

Just over two years ago while teacing a lesson in Relief Society I shared with the sisters how my little family hasn't done well with daily scripture study. After the lesson I had several sisters come up to me and tell me what worked for them in their families. Feeling a little awkward with them all telling me how to do it, I decided for myself that our family was going to have daily scripture time.

Like I said, it has been just over two years and we just finished reading the Book of Mormon as a family for the second time. It has taken alot of discipline and not always have we been in the best of mood when we got woke up so early. There were alot of times in the last year that we would share scripture time with Jim over the phone when he was gone for work. It was also very hard for me while I was pregnant with Samantha to get out of bed. Brindley and Karissa kept me going though. They have set such a good example. Many times I have told myself that if they can sit up and listen during scriptures then I can too. We have grown closer as a family and understand the scriptures alot better. I love to hear my girls grasp a hold of something from the scriptures and remember it then talk about it again later.
Something new we added to our scripture study time a few months ago was reciting the Articles of Faith. I'm so amazed at how fast Brindley and Karissa picked them up.
As we finished this morning Brindley made the comment about how when we get to Heaven Moroni will be sitting at a table doing a book signing. We all thought this was a pretty cool idea so we added on by saying Nephi, Lehi, and all those that contributed to the Book of Mormon will all be sitting in a row along a table signing Books of Mormon. Joseph Smith will be there along with the Urim and Thummim and other items on display. Kind of a neat thing to think about.
Here's to another many years reading the scriptures as a family.

Family Pictures

I think my camera is paying for itself! We did family pictures the other day and I am pleased with how they turned out.

I love this one with Jim and most of the girls. Not really posing for the camera. We were just trying to position the camera and I snapped a shot. Wish Samantha was in it.
For pushing the button then running to get in the picture, I think they look good.
Thanks to my family for being patient and cooperating. It was cold, but fun!

Yes, that was my child.

I think every year most Moms look forward to watching their children participate in the primary program. I remember the first few years being able to watch Brindley and Karissa do their parts and listening to them sing. I always ended up with tears in my eyes. They always sit so reverent and sing the best they can and try very hard to keep their part in their mind so they can give it by memory. Yes, I am one of those proud moms. And then Lexie became a Sunbeam!!!!! I was so excited to have all three participate. They all had their parts memorized. Lexie was the very first to give her part in the program. She did great! She said it just like we had practiced. Brindley and Karissa also gave their parts perfect. I was all smiles! No tears! Then came the time when I started shaking my head and remembering that my 4 year old has a mind of her own. I happend to look over at the bishop's wife who was motioning to her sunbeam to sit still. I glanced back up to the stand just intime to see this little girl point at Lexie and mouth, "It's her." Sure enough, my precious little girl was the one putting on the show this time. Yes, that was my child....shouting the words to the song so everyone knew she knew the words, that was my child bothering your child, that was my child pulling faces at me. As Jim said, "Her hands were everywhere but folded." After the program was over Lexie came to me and said, "Did you see me Mom? I was pulling faces at you!"

Yes, I am still a proud Mom! I love my girls and love how different each one is. This is what makes life an adventure!

Next Year!

I am very disappointed in myself this year. My favorite holiday has come and gone. I feel like the scrooge of halloween. I'm not the one that likes the dark side of halloween. I prefer the pumpkin carving, cookie making, handing out treats, dressing up in fun, not scary halloween costumes. This is the first year that I can remember not dressing up. I can rationalize why I didn't dress up, or why I didn't decorate, but honestly, I have no good excuse! I WILL REDEEM MYSELF NEXT YEAR!!!
So be ready! Here are a few shots of the kids at the ward trunk or treat.

Brindley and Karissa also had parties at school that they dressed up for. Then for trick or treat they all dressed up again all in different costumes that they put together themselves and we went trick or treating. With the houses packed so close together, we were able to hit several houses, get lots of candy and be back home within an hour to hand out candy at our door. The girls had more fun answering our door than going trick or treating.
I am already looking forward to next halloween. I got some pretty good ideas from some of the neighbors around here. Can't wait!

You've Had A Birthday, Shout Hurray!

We want to sing to you today! One year older and wiser too! Happy Birthday to You!
Happy Birthday to my Ambitious, Loving, Stubborn, Happy, Helpful, Demanding, Imaginative, Funny, Creative, Friendly, Compassionate, Sometimes Obedient, Leader, Lexie Lou!
Keep Be'in you! We Love You!

Lexie joined our family 10 weeks earlier than we had planned. Goes to show you who's the boss. Here is a trip down memory lane.
Some of the first things I remember noticing about Lexie were: She cried immediately after she was born. I thought for sure being Preemie she wouldn't cry. She had a lot of hair. She was long and skinny. Her feet were so tiny. She was only on a ventilator for a few hours.

Brindley and Karissa loved to see her and were so excited to have a new sister.

Her first outfit! A doll outfit that Grandma Rowley got for her.

After 50 days of being in the hospital, she is all dressed and ready to go home.
They did a carseat check at the hospital before we could take her home. She had to stay in her carseat for an hour without her oxygen levels dropping. She did it!
Lexie's first Christmas. The girls' dolls were bigger than her.
First photo shoot was at home with Mom. We didn't take her out of the house for several months except for Dr. appointments. She was too tiny and fragile.
We participated in the March of Dimes for the first time.
Here is Lexie sporting her March of Dimes shirt.
Lexie's first b-day!
I think she liked it!
Another hospital stay when she was 16 months. She got Bronchialitas.
At 18 months wearing clothes that are 6-9 months.
2nd Birthday
A trip to McKay Dee Hospital in Odgen where Lexie was born.
March of Dimes Ambassador Family 2007
Lexie's 3rd Birthday!
Lexie loves being an older sister.
Lexie's 4th Birthday!
I Love this girl!

I HATE THIS!!!

It's killing me! I am so frustrated. I have been holding on to this ever since we found out that we had to move. I knew we had deer tags so for sure we would be going home. I should be leaving today. It's not happening. Seeing others post on their blogs or on FB saying they are deer widows or talking about the hunt is making a knot in my stomach. The picture of the big buck on my calendar is starring at me right now. Ahhhhhh! I can't take this. I need the mountains! I need some camping! I need yummy camping food! I need to wake up before dawn and put my cold shoes on, layer myself in jackets/sweatshirts topped with blaze orange, fill my pockets with mini candy bars, load my gun, put extra bullets in chest pocket, make sure I have a few matches and some toilet paper, makesure I have my tag, a sharp pocket knife, and a string to tie the tag on if I get "ONE", shiver a little with buck fever, then head off to the hill behind camp. UGGHHHH!
