Another smile from Lexie

While fixing Lexie's hair we have this conversation.
Lexie: I smell you mommy. I smell the inside of you. I smell your blood and stuff.

Me: Oh, what do I smell like?

Lexie: Cherries!

Me: Hmm, Cherries huh?

Lexie: Ya, but don't worry mom. I won't eat you because you have bones in you.

Thanks for the phone call.

A couple of weeks ago Jim went out of town for his work. He was going to be gone the whole week and I was not looking forward to it. One of the first days he was gone I started feeling sorry for myself. I was frustrated that he left me here where I don't have any family around. I've really struggled with being away from family and friends. By about dinner time all I wanted to do was to crawl into bed and cry, but I needed to take care of my girls. While I was fixing dinner the phone rang. Not wanting to answer it, I handed the phone to Brindley. It didn't take long and the phone was handed back to me. I tried to put on a happy mood and talk for a few minutes. Nothing way awesome was said over the phone, but by the time I hung up I was in tears and very thankful that this person had called. I realized that she had been prompted to call me and I needed that call to help me. After hanging up the phone my feelings through the evening improved a ton.
The reason I share this is not for sympathy, but to hopefully make you think of when you are prompted to do something....whether it be making a phone call, taking dinner to someone, sending a card, or something else that you feel prompted to do.
I have tried alot in the last couple of years to follow through on promptings that I have recieved. Some I haven't done, but some I have. There have been a few that I have followed that I haven't really even thought about and later I have heard how much it helped that person.
Because I know how much it has helped me when I have recieved a container of soup for dinner, or a phone call when I didn't want it, but needed it, I will continue to make this a goal.
Thanks to all of you that give service and inspire me.

GOOO AGGIES!!!!

Being the only Aggie fans in here is quite intimidating.

So the other night as I was browsing the Herald Journal online I found out that the Aggies were going to be playing in Reno that night. How fun would it be to go. It was just a thought though until I called Jim and told him the Aggies would be in Reno. He asked me what time tip off was. The game didn't start until 8:05 pm. Jim said he could leave work right at close (7:00 pm) and we could go. I suddenly got very anxious and excited. I put the dinner that I was preparing in the fridge and quickly got the girls ready to go (all of us sporting our Aggie gear). We picked up Jim and headed on our way. We didn't have any tickets so we got in line for them...finding out they were $20 a piece. Like we could pay that for all of us. Great, we had just walked a mile from the parking lot with all 4 girls. Before that thought even cleared my mind a guy handed me a ticket. Within 1 minute we had 2 other tickets given to us. One guy saw Jim's Aggie sweatshirt after he gave him the ticket and said, "Oh no, not an Aggie!" He was nice though and let Jim keep it. We did buy 2 tickets and found some seats that were together just in time for tip off.
What a game! What an experience to be there with my family cheering for the Aggies with the Aggies being the visiting team. It was even exciting for me to see Stew Morill! It didn't take long for the people sitting around us to know who we were cheering for. My girls were great! They cheered hard and loud. During one of the time outs the song "Cotton Eye Jo" started playing. I told Brindley to get up and dance. She did and within a few seconds a camera had found her and she was being played on the Jumbo Tron (the score board over the middle of the court with the screen on it). The whole building could see her dancing. It was awesome. I was wishing we had a big USU sign at that moment.
Of course we got alot of smirks and jeers from the wolfpack fans, but it was exciting. Jim took Lexie to the bathroom and as he was walking down the stairs someone hollered at him, "Don't come back!" The word polygamist was hollered at us along with an older lady looking right at us and saying, "Cheaters!" All we could do was smile,......because of course, the Aggies won....in overtime! Gotta Love it!

Thank Heavens for mornings

After a night like last night, how can I be onry when I see this?

Thank Heavens for mornings (even if you only get a few hours of sleep).
It's a start of a new day.
I can try over again.
Who cares if I missed out on a bunch of sleep,
I got to hold her ALOT and even rock her for awhile.
Does it matter that my feet got cold while walking around with her in the dark?
No, She wanted me.
So what if my head hurts today and feels heavy and dizzy.
She loves me and trusts me.
And what about the other girls. I have to wake them in a few short hours and start my "mom duties" with them too. That's ok, I will hold her and rock her and kiss her and walk with her and sing to her and even cry with her....because this time won't last long.
Morning will come and she will be grown.

From the mouths of babes....

Living with Lexie is quite the adventure. You never know what she is going to do or say. I would love to hook a tape recorder to her for one day so you could all here what she says. Here are only two of her most recent "funnies"!

We were at Maverick last night. Jim was in the car with the girls and I was picking out a movie at redbox. Jim started pretending that he was going to leave me there. When I got in the car Lexie was pretty upset that he was going to leave me. I explained to her that Dad wouldn't ever leave me. I told her if he left me that he would have to take care of all our girls by himself. He would have to take care of Samantha. OH NO! (Samantha is a big time mommies girl). Lexie said that he couldn't take care of Samantha cause she cries alot for mommy. I agreed with her. Then she said, "He can't take care of Samantha because he doesn't have any big thingies."

Jim and I both asked her what she just said and again Lexie said, "Dad doesn't have any big thingies!" Jim and I look at each other already laughing then asked her what those "big thingies" were. With a giggle Lexie says, "Dad doesn't have any boobies!"

-----------------------------------------------------

We were at Jim's parents on Christmas Eve, all of us gathered around the tree with Jim telling the story of Jesus' birth. He then started talking about the atonement and how we can use it. Jim's Mom was holding Lexie and asked, "What do you do if you make a mistake?" Without missing a beat Lexie responded, "You get married."
What? Did my 4 year old just say that!?!
Needless to say, our thoughtful moment around the tree ended.
