Samantha's Birthday

This was the first time I have ever used Rolled Fondant Icing.  It was even homemade.  The cake isn't the best, but it worked.  This is Pokey the pony off of Gumby.  Samantha LOVES Pokey.  The picture on the left is what I tried to follow.

 Samantha loved her Pokey Cake.  I told her she couldn't touch it so she just smothered it with kisses...making sure to kiss every foot, the mouth and nose!

 For lunch we got McDonalds.  It just so happened the first two Mcdonalds we went to had no power so they were closed.  We had to drive just a little further to get her cheeseburger!

 When Brindley and Karissa got home from school they played with Samantha in the snow.....which is one of Samantha's favorite things.  She loves to walk in it.  Brindley walked with her around the block.  Samantha walked in the gutter (which was filled with water) the whole way.

 Samantha loved every minute of it!

 For dinner we had OLIVES! OF COURSE!  We did have sloppy jo's too.

 Samantha opening presents.  She got some Pokey and Gumby Bendables.  We couldn't get a picture of her with her Pokey because she wanted it open right away!

 I told her to put her head down by her horse so I could get a head shot of her with her cake.  Here's what a two year old does when you say, "Put your head down by the cake."

 She actually blew out the candles from sitting clear back in her chair.

 First Bite!

I Love this little pill so much!  She definately keeps me on my toes.  She is into everything all ready.  She climbs the bunkbed latter.  She gets into Brindley's fingernail polish. She finds my eye glasses and bends the heck out of the frame.  She loves to do the laundry from putting it in the washer, then the dryer, then folding it, then putting it away.  She loves to run to her dad when he comes in the door from work.  She throws refried bean cans out of the cart and across the isle at the grocery store.  She runs from me at the grocery store and giggles the whole time she is running.  She loves to fill the cart with groceries while I'm not looking.  She loves her sisters and wants to be a part of whatever they are doing.  She LOVES Pokey and asks to watch it every night before bed.  She loves to eat yogurt or fruit smoothies with me every morning.  In her cute little sentences, she asks almost everyday if we can go to the Walmart store to buy yogurt.  She loves to go out and go to the stores.  She loves to read storybooks or have them read to her.  She knows where her dad stashes his treats.  She LOVES chocolate chips.  She is my chocolate covered baby.  She has a sensitive heart and is full of love for others.  She gives the best hugs and kisses.  We are so lucky to have her in our family.  Love you Samantha James!

This picture is a few years old...considering Brindley is a baby in the picture.  It was taken just after Rulon took Gold in the Olympics.  We waited in line in a misting rain for over two hours to meet him.  Ya, I'm crazy like that. 

It's been fun watching him on the Biggest Loser and seeing what he has accomplished.  I love watching Rulon and Justin lead their team.  You can totally tell Justin is from Cache Valley with his "Cache Valley Drawl".  I'm anxious to see how far they make it.

Homemade Valentine's

I Love how these turned out!  Yes, it took A LOT more time than just purchasing already made Valentine cards, but it was fun putting these together with the kids.  And thanks to Dad/Jim for helping out.  He always makes things go a little smoother. 
Jim's mom does this fun craft/card idea with the kids when we are camping.  We decided to do it with our Valentine Cards.
To make your own tie-died paper:
Cut cardstock to the size you want.  Spread a layer of shaving cream (1/2"-1" thick) on a paper plate/pie tin/cookie sheet, whatever will be big enough for your paper.  Then drop 3-4 drops of food coloring (per 6" square area) across the top of the shaving cream.  Use a popcicle stick and make zigzags through the shaving cream...creating designs with the food coloring.  Press paper face down on shaving cream.  Lift paper up.  Scrape off shaving cream and TA DA!  COOL DESIGN.
We used latex gloves to keep our hands from being colored.  We glued a matching solid color on the back and the kids wrote their Valentine's message on the back.

HURRAY!  4 KIDS NEEDING VALENTINE'S!  ALL VALENTINE'S ARE DONE!  Now to make the treats for their parties! 

Just Randomness

We have been enoying some beautiful weather.  The girls got out the sidewalk chalk, road their bikes and even played in the water some.

Samantha loves her Chocolate Chip Pancakes!

I really don't think I am one to complain about the weather.  I do feel bad for those who have suffered with the harsh storms that have recently covered most of the nation.  I love to see the snow fall, I love to see the rain and hear it too.  I love seeing the trees bud and the spring flowers pop up.  I love seeing the leaves change colors.  I am impressed by how strong the wind can be at times.  I love watching the clouds roll over the mountains and float through the sky.  So many fascinating things with the weather.

I Love this MUTT!  Even if he is a pain in the Keester! (I think he Loves me too).

If any of you know Rocky, you know he is a "Runner" as in when he gets out he runs and it is very hard to get him back.  There have been two times now since we have moved to Carson that he has "escaped".  The first time he jumped the fence over into the neighbors yard then got out of their yard.  It just so happened to be right when school was getting out.  (We live right across the street from the front doors of the school).  This was a nightmare.  I immediately called Jim then I PRAYED!  And prayed the whole time.  I watched as he went through all the kids/parents, between cars and right through the gate into the school yard.  OH GREAT!  The only thing I knew he would come for was the 4-wheeler, but there was no easy way to get to it at the moment.  I followed Rocky across the field  schoolyard, with him running from me every time I got close.  As I went through the playground I grabbed some bark off the ground.  I thought just maybe....I could trick him.  After about 5 minutes of calling him, scolding him and begging him, he came to see what was in my hand....thinking it was a treat.  The bark worked.  I was able to get him. 

Lastnight was the second time he has gotten out.  I still have no clue how he did it.  I had been with my Visiting Teacher for about 45 minutes.  I just dropped her off and was headed back home.  I was about  4 blocks from home when I noticed the cars up ahead were stopped in the round-about.  I then saw a dog and my first thought was, "That's nice that those people stopped for the dog.  I'm curious to see what kind of dog it is."  As I drove closer I suddenly quit breathing.  Oh Crap!  It couldn't be!  And Jim is out of town!  What am I going to do!  Yes, it was MY DARN DOG!  I stopped the car immediately, got out and called him.  I know I was being helped because that DARN DOG came right to me.  I grabbed his collar, lifted him into the car and drove home.  All I could think was that I was blessed to be able to catch him that easy.  He knew he was free and he still came to me!  What a GOOD BOY!  I guess I will keep him another day.

Finally....

I started with a cold 2 weeks ago.  It wasn't a horrible cold, but it really took alot out of me.  The cold then turned into what I think was a sinus infection....which still took alot out of me.  And all you MOM's know that when we are sick we can't stop doing our Mom jobs.  So, after 2 weeks, I think I am starting to get over this.  My throat still is tender at night before I go to bed which I think is wierd because it seems fine in the morning and during the day.  I just am happy that I am feeling better than what I was last week!

So since we moved, the girls' books have been in boxes.  They have kept them under their beds and pull them out every night to do their reading.  Even though we don't have the room, I asked Jim to make a bookcase for the girls.  I Love how it turned out.  I am going to have him make a few more.  I still need to paint it, but I wanted to show you how awesome it turned out so far.  I'm still debating what color to paint it.  White would go with the bedroom it is in, but white also shows chips better.
