The Results of Prayer and Fasting

I am so overwhelmed with emotion as I see the immediate response to a unified prayer and fast that took place in our valley. Not only was the fasting done in our valley but also Ogden area and in California.

We were asked by church leaders in our stake to include in our fast the blessing of moisture. We have had very little snow. I believe and have faith in prayer and fasting. My thought was, "Oh, we will get more moisture, but it will be a storm for a day here and maybe a week later another day with some snow." Well, it has pretty much snowed everyday since the day before the fast. It is beautiful. It is a testimony to what prayer and fasting can do. 

When ever an opportunity to pray and fast for a specific thing comes about, I try to explain to my girls about fasting. It seems like the more I explain, the more frustrating it is dealing with them. They get after each other for one eating something. They ask questions like, "Can we swallow our spit?" Seriously, I lose my patients  ....But as I went to bed Sunday night after having prayer with my girls 3 times during the day to ask for moisture, I checked the forecast. I wanted to cry. I immediately showed Jim then went and showed the girls that were still awake. 4 of the 7 days had snow in them. I know forecasts can changed and this one did, but with an increase of snow. WOW! So blessed!

I thank my Heavenly Father for blessing us with the moisture, but I also thank him for giving us an opportunity to share with our children how prayer and fasting works with his immediate response to our prayer.

Trying to keep up...

It has been a busy week. Monday was MLK Day. I always hope to do something fun with the kids but never get to it with everything else going on. Mom had her heart shocked on Monday also. So I went with Suzanne down to see Mom and Dad at LDS Hospital. Mom was admitted so they could help her get the fluid off her. She retains it very easily. Tuesday I had one of those days with daycare that made me wish I wasn't trying to eat better cause I really needed a Dr. Pepper. I went with the Primary Presidency to do visits of the in-actives. It was a successful night and boosted my spirits. Now today, I luckily started some split pea soup in the crock pot because in about an hour I am headed to SLC again to see Mom and Dad. They are saying she will be released to go home tomorrow.....

So yup, busy week.

Tomorrow we have an orthodontists appointment for Brindley. It is Temple night also that we are planning to go to.

Ya know those things kids do or say that just make you smile? Well that's what you will find here, all those funnies that make me smile!

2009-2011

Lexie was the last one at the dinner table. She tells me, "Mom, if I'm not at the table, don't get mad at me. It's my body's fault. This food is just so delicious that my body just wants to dance."

Lexie was opening a package that had wires and plastic tags through the cardboard. She says, "Those Darn Chinese! They make it so hard to get into these things!"

In Relief Society I received a handout with a piece of licorice attached. I gave the licorice to Lexie. She says to me, "Do they always give you licorice at Relief Society?" I answer, "No."
She says, "Just when you been good, Huh?"

Lexie was playing with a friend. The friend tell Lexie that they are going to move someday. Lexie says to her friend, "When I move back to Hyrum you really are going to miss me for the rest of your life."

Lexie came into my bathroom while I was cleaning my shower. She saw what I was doing and repeated:

"Are you tired of tuff scrubbing? You need new Kaboomtastic! You spray it on, when it turns white you are ready to wipe. You use it on tiles, showers and sinks!"
To much TV at my house I think!

From the back seat of the car on the way to Utah.... I hear Lexie's little voice say, "Dad drives faster to Utah than Mom does!"

Jim took Lexie to work with him one day. They were having an employee meeting. He sat Lexie right up to the table with all of the employees. When the meeting was done he turned to Lexie and asked her if she would like to say anything.
She replied, "Yes." Then proceeded by saying, "I know this is Aaron's, and I know my dad is the boss!"

Lexie: I know what will keep me busy!
Mom: What will keep you busy?
Lexie: Icecream will keep me busy!

Karissa: Those people have a big house!
Lexie: They must have lots of children.

Lexie wanted to call a friend from Hyrum. I would tell her she couldn't call this person cause they weren't home, or that person cause they were at school. She looked at me and said, "Well, who can I call from Hyrum, I can't call myself!"

After I fixed Lexie's hair the other day she looked in the mirror and said, "I look like the Brady Bunch!"

Lexie talking to my dad on the phone: "I want to move back to Hyrum, but my mom won't let me."

Lexie talking to me: "Let's just leave the others and go back to Hyrum." Me: "What other's?" Lexie: "Brindley, Karissa and Dad. Let's go back to Hyrum right now!"

Do you make New Year's Resolutions?

As the New Year approached, I realized that I actually look forward to January. These are some of the reasons why:

I usually make it a goal to exercise more (again)...So in January, I physically feel better.

After coming off a month like December where there is so much going on with Holidays, it's like January comes to a stand still. I Love that on Saturdays we are home! There is no rush to be anywhere!

I also seem to get in a reorganizing mood or de-junk/de-clutter mood. So, my house seems a lot cleaner meaning a Happier Kristi!

So...What are some of the New Year's Resolutions that you made?

Of course, I am exercising more.....I've done pretty good so far. I have also decided to read the Book of Mormon on my own this year. Usually I make the excuse that reading with my family is good enough.....Only missed one day so far. I have a goal to read more novels this year. I think I read 2, maybe only 1 last year........Haven't started that one yet. I also want to blog more this year. I need to remember how I used to blog....1 picture a week. It kept it simpler and made it so I could keep up.

I am also going to try to cut back on screen time when my kids are home from school and when Jim and I are together.

Halloween 2013

 Halloween is one of my most favorite holidays....although I dislike paying so much for costumes....This year Brindley decided she wanted to be Belle. We looked for costumes and any modest ones were well over $100. Some how I got a hair brained idea that I would try and make it. After buying the fabric, pattern, and zipper, I paid just under $30, but lots of hours! I am pleased with how it turned out. I told Jim that I was going to cry when I finished because I have never made anything like this before.

 With all the time I put into Brindley's, the other girls made due with what we could throw together.

 Katelynn came to see the witch at the Rowley's. She wasn't a huge fan, but she did like the candy!!

Carson City Trip

Our Carson City Lone Mountain Ward family is the BEST! We were able to visit Carson City over Memorial Weekend. It was so great to see all of those wonderful people that took Jim, myself and our girls in and helped us through one of our hardest times of our life. We made some friendships that will last for eternity.

The Roylance family was so kind to let us stay with them. Lexie's BFF Leah Roylance is a twin to Anna. After not seeing her BFF for awhile, Lexie was nervous about knowing which twin was Leah. She kept asking me questions about Leah and Anna so when she saw them she would know. It was really cute. When we arrived at the Roylances it didn't take long for Lexie and Leah to pick right up where they left off.

 On Sunday evening's the Roylances do family night. They have family over, do dinner, then family night. We were able to catch up with the Brewers and meet a new adopted family member that came for dinner. The missionaries came to dinner too. The Elder standing by Jim is from Nibley. It was fun talking with him and finding out all the people he knew from Hyrum. (And just a side note...Alison has the cutest home. I Love how she has decorated it.)

For dinner one evening another friend in the ward hosted a BBQ. A lot of members/friends from the ward came. I was amazed at how grown up all the kids were. When we were in Carson I was in Nursery for almost 18 months. My nursery kids have changed and grown and didn't even remember me. Thanks to the Wolz's for doing the BBQ and allowing us all to run through your home! 

Brindley had a great time with her friends too. She even got invited back for a teen game night. She has some pretty fun friends in Carson!

 Pres. Wolz was our Bishop when we first moved to Carson. He was later put in the Stake Presidency.

Drove past our house like 6 times

Went to a baptism of another family of friends

Went to DQ with the ladies AND with the men

Ate lunch with the ladies at Firkin and Fox

Went to Costco with the ladies

Hung at the Thortons

Had some good visits....just never enough time to see and visit everyone.

One other side note..I was so excited to have Alison cut my hair. She does awesome! I miss being able to have my cuts done by her.

Our trip was short, but great! Lone Mountain ward members will always have a special place in my heart.
